Rob Zombie has just released his long awaited follow-up to the first Hellbilly Deluxe not two weeks ago to great acclaim, and here he catches up with MTV about this sequel of sorts.

Writes MTV's Kyle Anderson, "Rob Zombie is no stranger to sequels. The metal icon and virtuoso film director has directed four theatrical features, and exactly half of those are continuations (2005's "The Devil's Rejects" and 2009's "Halloween II"). So when it came time to produce a new album of industrial-kissed spook-rock — the just-released Hellbilly Deluxe 2, his fourth as a solo artist — he turned to a previous effort when it came time for a title."

"Making a sequel to a record came up as an idea a couple of years ago," Zombie told MTV News back in December while he was on tour doing a handful of warm-up dates. "I thought, 'That could be kind of cool.' You do it for movies. It's so commonplace. But as I was making 'Halloween II,' I thought it might be a little weird so I shelved the idea. But then once we finished the record I listened to it, and the way the record was made, it kind of had the spirit and the vibe of Hellbilly Deluxe. If any record is ever gonna get called that, this would be a good one."

The 11 tracks on the new album (the full title is Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool) do capture the sound of Zombie's solo debut, easily mixing industrial rhythms with machine-gun metal riffs and Zombie's particular knack for melody. But don't worry: The new songs don't mirror the original album, so there's no continuation of whatever story was set up in songs like "Living Dead Girl."

"I didn't set out to make each song have a companion song," Zombie said. "That would be really contrived. I just thought the record had the same vibe."
